As 2016 begins, I want to ask you to take a moment and consider giving the gift of education to the students we assist. Your thoughtful consideration to include The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children in your philanthropic contribution will have tremendous impact on the lives of the students we serve.
Families like The Picinich Family are grateful that donors like you have provided their children with the opportunity to receive a quality, value-based education. Read their story on our Student Profile Page. Our families know that the education their children will receive in a Catholic school provide them with an excellent academic foundation that enable them to go on to higher education and eventually contribute positively to society.
Currently, The Scholarship Fund is providing over 1,600 students in grades K to 12 with $1.2 million in partial-tuition scholarships. Sadly, almost 1,800 financially qualified students were denied a scholarship due to our lack of financial resources. Our students attend 62 elementary schools and 28 high schools throughout Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union Counties. Seventeen of our schools have been awarded Blue Ribbon status by the U.S. Department of Education since 2011. Our Catholic secondary schools continue to send 97% of their graduates to colleges and universities across the country.
While Catholic school provides an excellent education and foundation for young people, many families who desire a Catholic school education, encounter economic challenges. The average family receiving a $1,000 SFIC General Scholarship has an annual household income of less than $39,000 and the mean tuition for elementary school is over $4,800; for high school that figures increases to over $10,000. Your contribution advances the investment in our students, made by their parents, the schools and The Scholarship Fund.
Giving the gift of education is one of the most empowering acts one could provide a student who seeks to achieve academic excellence. All gifts, no matter the amount are needed, accepted and very much appreciated. Make your donation here on our website.
On behalf of the students we assist, thank you for all that you do for The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children. I wish you and your family a blessed New Year.

P.S. If you have recently made a gift, I thank you and kindly ask that you be an advocate of SFIC to a family member or friend and invite them to join you in making a difference in the life of a student with the gift of education this year.
