Congratulations to St. Cassian School of Upper Montclair and Academy of The Most Blessed Sacrament of Franklin Lakes. These schools have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence for 2016 by the U.S. Department of Education and join 17 schools from the Archdiocese that have received this honor since 2011.
U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr. announced the names of 329 schools identified by the U.S. Department of Education as the National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2016. “National Blue Ribbon Schools are proof that we can prepare every child for college and meaningful careers”, King said in the video announcement to the schools.
Schools are selected based on their test scores in reading and math placing them among the top-performing schools in the nation or state, or because they made notable improvements in closing achievement gaps. All winning schools were honored at an awards ceremony in Washington, DC this November. Dr. Margaret A. Dames, Ed. D, Superintendent of Newark Archdiocese Catholic Schools was in DC to represent the Newark Archdiocese Catholic Schools at the ceremony and to see our 2016 Blue Ribbon Schools receive their honors.
