The Scholarship Fund For Inner-City Children’s Annual Christmas Breakfast with Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R. was held at Academy of Our Lady of Grace in Fairview, NJ on Thursday December 13th. Along with Christmas carols performed by the school choir and a student panel discussion with Cardinal Tobin, the highlight of the morning was a heartwarming story shared by mother and daughter, Mrs. Yanet Perez, and Gabriella Perez. A mother of nine children, Mrs. Perez spoke about the importance of Catholic education and passionately thanked donors for helping her and her husband, Orlando, provide their children –through education, with a better life. A graduate of Our Lady of Grace and currently a Freshman at Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi, NJ, Gabriella spoke about how Catholic education and the nurturing she received from her teachers and school staff has helped shape her in the young lady she has become. Gabriella shared her gratitude to SFIC donors for investing in her future and promised one day to pay their kindness forward. Afterwards, student ambassadors lead the guests on tours of their school to watch the students and teachers in action and to see -for themselves, the impact of their compassion and generosity.
