General Fund Program

The SFIC General Fund provides scholarships to students attending parochial and private elementary and secondary schools in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties in New Jersey. This fund is made possible through the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, and foundations who want their support to reach students with the greatest need.

Awards from the General Fund are based on financial need and are offered without regard to ethnicity, gender, race, or religion. Your generosity helps open doors to safe, supportive, and academically strong schools for children who might otherwise be unable to attend.

The General Fund ensures that we can respond to the greatest needs across our schools each year. Gifts to the General Fund allow SFIC to award scholarships where they are needed most.

Need-Based Awards

Families apply for assistance through SFIC and are evaluated based on household income, family size, and financial need. General Fund awards help close the gap between what families can afford and the actual cost of tuition.

Flexible Support

Because General Fund dollars are not restricted to a specific school or student profile, SFIC can direct support where it will make the greatest impact across Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties.

Awards are paid directly to participating schools in two installments, helping families keep tuition current and schools maintain stable enrollments.

Establish a Named Scholarship

Establishing a scholarship in the name of a loved one is a wonderful way for a donor to support the philanthropic priorities which are most meaningful to you or a loved one. You can also establish a scholarship for a specific school or within a specific community to which you hold dear affections. There are no financial obligations for The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children to administer you or your family’s scholarship.
