Many families, no matter how difficult, strive to continue the tradition of receiving a Catholic education. The Merced Family is one of those families that take the importance of receiving a values based education seriously. According to Mrs. Merced,
The importance of a Catholic Education is first for us. The faith and discipline they receive helps my kids to be better people in life. Without your [SFIC] help we can’t make this happen for our children. We are a large family but I know we are doing God’s will. People always tell us 10 kids is impossible, how do you do it , well I tell them without the help of God and the Church it will be impossible.”
Pictured here are (from left to right) Diego, 8th grade, Saul, 7th grade, Mateo, 6th grade, Gabriel, 4th grade and Monica, 2nd grade. They are currently attending Mother Seton Elementary School in Union City. Their big sister, Deborah, is currently a senior at Benedictine Academy.
Diego is looking forward to graduating from Mother Seton Elementary School this year and plans on attending St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark after graduation. He loves soccer and is working toward becoming an Engineer in the future. By the way, that beautiful mural in the background featured in the St. John Vianny room at Mother Seton School was created by their big brother Angel (who is also an alumni of Mother Seton Elementary School).
